Is this tacky or not?

I'm going to a friends baby shower next week and i'm going to get some stuff for her but is it completely tacky to get somethings from a second store such as toys and such? Times are tough for everyone money wise. I'm talking like gently used things not like ratty clothes and what not. She said no clothes anyways. How much should i spend. We're not like great friends but i feel like i have to attend. So how much money should i spend? and Is second hand not an option?
